#plasticfreetravel - I recorded this video in 2019 to show my technique of avoiding plastic water bottles when I travel. I never got to post it however, this has been my #plasticfree travel method since 2015.
I travel abroad a lot and it disheartening to see how much single-use plastic water bottle pollution tourists produce. It drives me crazy and I don't want to add to the problem. So, I came up with this simple solution,. I am just using my camping gear, nothing fancy. I carry 2 water bottles, one to fill from the tap and the other to collect the filtered water. Also, 1 MSR camping ceramic filter and a Steripen UV light. That is is. No more need to ever buy plastic water bottles while traveling.
I wish I was getting paid by these companies for making this video that highlights their products, but I am not. I am simply trying to add value to your life and hope that more western travelers start filtering their water.
I get it, we don't want to get sick from water when we travel, but we should be setting better examples for developing countries that we travel to. Western food and drink corporations created single-use plastic markets in most all developing countries. This exacerbated the plastic pollution problem worldwide. See @peakplastic and their #storyofplastic movie to learn more about this. Regardless, we didn't create the problem but we can sure take action to reverse the tide. Since then a friend of mine bought me an expensive UV water bottle gadget which I haven't used yet but maybe I will make a video about that in the future. For now, take care and pls do whatever you can to always avoid buying single use plastic packaged products. Music "The Lounge" by the talented @bensound - www.bensound.com
